NRF Recap: How Brands Can Create Great Experiences / Blogs / Perficient

Justin Racine, Principal of Unified Commerce recently attended the National Retail Federation’s (NRF) Big Show in New York City. Every year, NRF brings industry leaders and innovators together to dive into the latest trends and technologies shaping the future of retail. This year the show brought together more than 40,000 people and showcased insights from leaders of some of the world’s largest companies and advanced technologies.

What You’ll Learn from the Piece

Make Your Own “Magic”

Earvin “Magic” Johnson, legendary point guard for the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers shared his stories about his basketball career and how he has continued to succeed well after retirement – becoming chairman and CEO of Magic Johnson Enterprises, an investment firm.

Racine shared how Johnson’s perspectives on business and basketball are relevant introductions to the present-day challenges faced by retailers such as competition from new and emerging brands.

You Can Leave a Lasting Impact in Just Three Minutes

A brand shared a customer story where a location kept the lights on an extra three minutes and was able to please a customer and deliver a great customer experience. Little actions like this from brands can really elevate a brand in the customer’s eye.

Embrace New Technologies

NRF is always rife with new technology demonstrations and a look into the future, and brands shouldn’t be scared to lean in and embrace them – after all, it wasn’t that long ago that we had never gone to the moon or carried a telephone, camera, and the entire internet in our pockets.

Trust Your Gut

Brands need to rely on their instinct and recognize its value and role in achieving current successes, but they also need to be adaptable and open to evolution in the ever-evolving landscape.
